In 1976, the Dawood family initiated a Motorcycle Assembly and Manufacturing Company through a Joint Venture with the world-renowned Japanese company, Yamaha. The motorcycles swiftly became best sellers and Dawood-Yamaha soon became a household name.
A network of 226 dealerships in large metropolises’ like Karachi, to small towns like Kashmir, strengthened with around 600 authorized service dealers, was developed. The initiative achieved localization levels of up to 85% and developed a supplier base of more than 60 vendors. Extensive transfer of technology and know-how were facilitated by vigorous trainings, both locally and abroad.
In 2006, our chairman, Mr. Arif Dawood divested his shareholdings in Dawood Yamaha and initiated a new journey by establishing Dawood Engineering (Pvt.) Limited. The facility commenced operations in 2008 which includes Steel Stamping, High Pressure Die-casting, Precision Machining. The facility provides employment to more than 550 individuals.
Further in 2006, DE Trading, a trading associate of Dawood Engineering, was established . The firm engages in trading & indenting of tools and services across Pakistan.
In 2014 MIDP, a joint venture with Marubeni – Itochu Steel Japan was set up . MIDP operates a slitter, leveller and Reshear to process steel sheets.
